General information, not a project approval
Dock & Marine Decking provides educational guidance and planning tools. Content is not engineering, architectural, legal, permitting or other licensed professional advice. Reading a guide, completing a checklist or submitting an inquiry does not create a professional-client relationship or approve a design.
Dock conditions vary by location, structure, water exposure, use and product. Obtain project-specific review where needed and use the current instructions and accepted details for the actual assembly.
Calculator and layout limits
The calculators model the geometry and assumptions stated in the tool. Default values are illustrative. Row counts and linear feet are preliminary quantities, not stock-optimized board counts. Borders, final-row ripping, joints and other details still need review against the accepted layout.
Visual stripes communicate board direction; they do not necessarily represent every board. Candidate joint markers are layout ideas, not support locations or approved fastening details. Calculations do not establish structural capacity, flotation, stability, accessibility compliance or suitability for a particular exposure.
Inspection and installation information
Observation checklists help organize what can be seen safely; they do not certify that a dock is safe. An item marked “not observed” is not a passed inspection. Do not enter unsafe or inaccessible areas, remove structural components or begin work on the assumption that a generic diagram applies.
Detail diagrams show concepts and relationships. Dimensions, fastening positions, support sizes and removal procedures require the selected system’s instructions and project-specific acceptance.
Materials, evidence and comparisons
A material name, a manufacturer listing or a saved shortlist is not a recommendation that the product is suitable for every dock. Product-family information must be reconciled with the exact profile, current documentation and intended application. Manufacturer statements retain the scope and limitations of their source.
This site does not guarantee service life, surface temperature, slip performance, corrosion resistance or other project outcomes. It does not turn unsupported claims into verified specifications. Natural materials vary, and samples cannot reproduce every future installed condition.
Images and visual examples
Some waterfront and material images on this site are AI-generated scenes used for visual context. They are not photographs of completed customer projects, supplied product specimens or independently verified installations unless a specific image is expressly identified that way.
Images may simplify or omit construction details and should not be used to identify a species, select a fastener, establish dimensions or copy an installation. Color and grain appearance can vary with screens, lighting, finishes and actual material.
Commercial relationship and external links
Ipe Woods USA, LLC operates this resource and handles its material inquiries. The publication is not an independent certification body. Mentioning an outside manufacturer does not establish a partnership, endorsement, stocked product or offer for sale.
Prices, availability, delivery commitments and purchase terms require a current commercial response. External resources may be useful, but we do not control their content or updates.
Errors and corrections
We aim to make the resource useful, but information can contain errors or become outdated. Check important facts and calculations before purchasing or building. Nothing here limits rights or obligations that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
To report a concern, email help@ipewoods.com with the page address and an explanation. If you provide a source or product document, identify its edition and the statement you believe needs correction.
